A weekly rant from guest blogger Ninja Nan
As a veteran (old) cake maker, I am amazed at the concept of ‘Naked Cakes’. These cakes have been around for several years now, and they just don’t seem to be going out of fashion fast enough.
What on earth does everyone see in them?
Or, like the Emporer’s New Clothes, is the industry outwardly saying they’re stunning when inside we’re just dying to give them a smooth finish with sugarpaste?
Take yourself back to being a child at a wedding: Your invitation meant you could get your grubby little hands on a chunk of icing and marzipan, and maybe even some of the sugar flowers if you were lucky.
Now? It’s bare cake, with a spread of butter icing, and a few berries (YUCK! Fruit?… it kills you). They look nothing morethan a Leaning Tower of Victorian Sponge.
Let’s BIN THIS TREND for the sake of all children (and Grans), everywhere!
